Branscome's employees are our most valuable asset, and keeping our people safe and healthy is one of the most important aspects of our business.

Our philosophy - that everyone is entitled to a safe work environment - establishes a partnership of shared responsibility among employees. Every reasonable effort is made to achieve the goal of zero lost time accidents.

Branscome takes safety very seriously, and we aggressively pursue a plan to minimize accidents. Every job site is kept as safe as humanly possible to reduce the possibility of workforce injury. Company safety officers, insurance representatives and an independent safety consultant routinely conduct site inspections. Any deficiencies are promptly corrected.

Our employees are trained in-house by our own safety training officer, an authorized OSHA Construction Outreach Trainer. This course is a challenging, comprehensive program; 40 hours of coursework must be successfully completed prior to receiving certification. In addition to training each new employee to the same high standards, we also offer continuing safety education instruction. Our foreman training program now includes OSHA 10- and 30-hour training.

01In 2004, our dedication to safety earned Branscome employees the coveted Colas Worldwide Safety Award. This prestigious recognition is given to the Colas subsidiary with the highest safety performance record.

02In 2005, the Virginia Ready-Mixed Concrete Association also recognized Branscome with a safety award. We are proud of our achievements, and Branscome will continue to operate within high safety standards and a strict, ongoing prevention policy.

032007 brought additional recognition to the Branscome Companies; The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) recognized Branscome Eastern Shore with their safety award. The VTCA and the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy presented Branscome Inc.’s Layfield Pit with the Virginia Mineral Mine Safety Award in the Open Pit category.
